When will Emilie do another fan chat?
No one knows. There has not been a fan chat since 2007, but EA often replies to muffins on Twitter, so if you have something to ask her, try sending her a message on there!

Why does Emilie like the Victorian era so much?
Emilie is a big history geek. She sees more parallels between modern day life and the Victorian era than any other point in time. Releases

Where can I buy Emilie’s CDs?
Check here for a list of shops where they are available.

Where can I buy a copy of On A Day/Chambermaid EP/By the Sword/Opheliac EP?
Sadly, these are all out of print now. On A Day has been rereleased as Disc I of Laced/Unlaced. Most of the songs from the Chambermaid EP and By the Sword are on A Bit O’ This & That, and all of the tracks from the Opheliac EP are available on the double disc edition of Opheliac.

Where can I buy a copy of Your Sugar Sits Untouched?
Your Sugar Sits Untouched is available as a digital download on iTunes and CD Baby. It is also available as an audio and PDF download at EA’s official site (this means you get a digital copy of the book in addition to being able to listen to the poems!)

Where can I buy a copy of The Asylum For Wayward Victorian Girls?
Copies are available from The Asylum Emporium, Emilie’s official web shop.

When will the Jane Brooks Project be released?
EA answered this question in the past with “as soon as I have time to mix it;” however, the JBP song “Gentlemen Aren’t Nice” appeared on EA’s own Girls Just Wanna Have Fun/Bohemian Rhapsody EP.

Will Emilie be releasing any music videos?
Formerly there were plans for a video of “Liar.” It was to be directed by Burke Heffner, husband of the Bloody Crumpet Veronica, and was said to involve bloody bathtubs, but nothing was ever released. Currently, Emilie is working with director Darren Bousman on a video for “Fight Like A Girl.”

When will a DVD be released? What about the mockumentary EA mentioned in her journals?
Trisol still has rights to the live footage that was shot during a past UK tour, so until EA either recovers it or has new footage recorded, there will be no DVD. The mockumentary footage is also lost, having been stolen in the Asylum robbery of spring 2006.

Where can I download “Absynthe,” “Come Away,” “Constant,” “Delirium,” “In Reality,” “Lady Anne,” and “Never You Mind”?
You can’t. These songs were only performed live during the Enchant era and there are no recordings of them.

Where can I download “Russian Bride”?
It hasn’t been recorded yet. Emilie posted the lyrics in her journal in February 2006 and hasn’t mentioned it since.

Where can I get sheet music for Emilie’s songs?
The limited edition version of Laced/Unlaced contains sheet music for “Unlaced.” This is the only official sheet music that has been released. Emilie has said that sheet music has been in the works for years, but she is so busy with all her projects that she hasn’t had time to finish this one. For now, check out the sheet music muffins have transcribed on the official forum.

She dyes her hair a different color each time, so there is no “official” EA hair color. Experiment!

Stepping into the Asylum…

What is an Opheliac?

“‘Opheliac’ is both a medical term and a sarcastic one.” — EA, TWF Magazine no. 8

“…an ‘Opheliac’ is a medical term I came up with to describe a type of person who constantly finds themselves repeating this cycle of being driven to the point of madness. And the choice that one makes however unwittingly to become this person whose choices are made by others. The choice within that choice to give up the choice. Choices.” — EA, English Orkus no. 3

“‘Opheliac’ is a word I childishly made up to explain the condition of a person have the characteristics of ‘Ophelia’ and the ‘Ophelia’ archetype. While the original Ophelia did indeed go ‘mad,’ it was not primarily caused by her boyfriend knocking off her dad, but rather by not only Hamlet, but also all the men in her life manipulating and pushing her to the point of no alternative.” — EA, TWF Magazine no. 8

What is the Asylum?
The Asylum refers to many things… Emilie’s home, the recording studio, or the official forum. Emilie says that the Asylum is a state of mind, and also a traveling circus. It follows her everywhere.

What are Emilie’s rules for being a Wayward Victorian Girl?
1. Your maquillage is your mask. Your mask is your liberation. Apply it neatly and without vulgarity.
2. Your corset is your armour. Lace it tightly. Breathing is unimportant.
3. Your stockings prove your virtues. Be certain they are clean and free of tears.
4. When properly attired, invite yourself to the nearest tea party or host one yourself. Guests are optional.

What is violindustrial/Victoriandustrial?
These are both terms Emilie has coined to describe her music, a combination of violin/Victorian style music and industrial.

“I simply combine what I like, because I don’t want to spend great chunks of my life doing one thing and not the other. It’s simply a convenient way to do everything at once.” — EA, TWF Magazine.

Who are the Bloody Crumpets?
The Bloody Crumpets perform onstage with Emilie, creating a theatric and circuslike atmosphere. As of Spring 2012, the lineup is:
